We are serious about what we do but don’t take ourselves too seriously. Our foundations are strong fellowship, common purpose and a lot of enjoyment.

We were chartered on 5 June 1980 with 28 Founder members led by President David Jarvis and were sponsored by Folkestone Rotary Club (chartered 1923).
Currently we have 52 members (including 6 Founder Members and 27 former Club Presidents) . Half our members have each given at least 20 years Rotary service. Overall, the Club has continued to grow contrary to the trend with service clubs in general.
Members are from business and professional backgrounds, active and retired, mostly in the Folkestone and Hythe community. They range from directors and business managers to technical specialists in a wide range of sectors including accountancy, banking, catering, civil engineering, construction & building services, consultancy, dentistry, design, education, financial services, government service, human resources, legal, manufacture, medicine, merchant marine, catering, retail and training.
Age is no barrier if people have something to contribute. Our two oldest members are in their 80’s! and still contribute significantly to Club activities.

The Club is proud to have 11 Paul Harris Fellows. This is the greatest honour awarded by Rotary and it recognises Club members and non- members alike for their outstanding contribution to Rotary and its humanitarian mission and/or to the society and community in which we live.  Fittingly it is named after our founder, Paul Harris, whose vision transformed Rotary into the worlds first and largest Service Club with 1.3 million members throughout the globe carrying out the Rotary motto of ‘Service above Self’.

The Club is also proud to have Colonel Jamie Murray Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Gurkha Rifles as an Honorary Member. The club has close ties to this Gurkha regiment based at Sir John Moore Barracks Folkestone.
